OverviewMicrosoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Office of CO+I, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing new products and solutions that improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of Microsoft's data centers. You will work with a cross-functional team of engineers, researchers, and business partners to identify customer needs, generate innovative ideas, and deliver high-quality solutions. You will also collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure alignment with Microsoft's standards and specifications. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 Datacenters and 1 million servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide. ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical systems and components for data center applications, such as structural engineering, thermal management, cooling, airflow, and acoustics. Perform engineering analysis, simulation, and testing to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of the products and solutions. Prepare and review technical documentation, such as design specifications, drawings, test plans, test reports, and patents. Support the fabrication, assembly, and installation of the products and solutions in the data center environment. Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of the products and solutions in case of issues or failures. Research and evaluate new technologies and trends in the mechanical engineering field and data center industry. Communicate and present the project status, results, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders. Embody our culture and values.
