Enrich the lives of older adults through community, choice, and continuing care in the Payroll Accountant role. The Payroll Accountant is responsible for processing payroll for all Wesley companies. This involves compiling payroll data, processing and transmitting it electronically to the payroll system on a weekly basis as well as administering electronic payments to vendors. The Payroll Accountant works closely with Accounting and HR team members, managers, timekeepers and schedulers to ensure that time worked is accurately accounted for. The Payroll Accountant administers the 403(b) contribution and loan processes, prepares invoices for payment and processes Foundation contributions, garnishments and employee expense reimbursements. This role administers timecards, payroll and payroll reporting and ensures that payroll reports are downloaded, secured and backed up on the company's network. In addition, the Payroll Accountant creates custom reports as needed from the HRIS system. Find your sense of belonging at Wesley!


You will provide continuing care through these responsibilities

Essential functions of this position include the following.

  • Compile payroll data, process and transmit payroll for all Wesley companies in an accurate, timely manner in accordance with established payroll processing calendars, state and federal regulations. Assist managers, timekeepers and schedulers with systems to ensure accurate time accounting for all employees.
  • Communicate with Ceridian and other timekeeping and payroll system vendors to enable accurate, timely processing of payroll.
  • Administer 403(b) contributions, loan payments and electronic funds transfers on a weekly basis in compliance with the plan design and federal regulations.
  • Administer electronic deposits and cash funding report for payroll. Ensure payroll reports are downloaded and data is securely and confidentially maintained.
  • Extract payroll data and import into General Ledger for all Wesley companies after each payroll is processed.
  • Enter and extract data from multiple HR Systems for reporting, compliance and metrics purposes.
  • Provide administrative support by processing payroll related expenses and reimbursements, responding to requests for verification of employment.
  • Stay abreast of Payroll compliance issues and Payroll system upgrades via continuing professional development.
  • Generate, complete and process quarterly Worker's Comp filings with the state.
  • Responsible for daily cash balancing and monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Help Controller in getting ready for the annual financial and 403(b) audit.
  • Help Controller in preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements.
  • Support and assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to the team when requested.
  • Prepare general ledger entries with minimum supervision.
  • Support and assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual bond covenant requirement.
  • Support and assist with the yearly budget.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.


Our requirements and qualifications for success

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior payroll experience required. Certification preferred.
  • Working understanding of GAAP.
  • HRIS/Payroll administration experience required; Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred.
  • Great Plains and Point Click Care experience preferred.
  • Two years electronic payroll processing experience preferred.
  • Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Professional, organized, detail-oriented and customer service oriented.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information and maintain confidences.


Physical, environmental, and mental requirements

  • Position requires repetitive motion such as working on computer terminal.
  • Minimal lifting involving filing, distributing mail and working with standard office equipment and supply.
  • Standard working environment involves the administrative office area.
  • Work in well lit, comfortable surroundings.
  • Be able to stand, sit, bend, and lift as necessitated by the job responsibilities.
  • Some local travel may be required.

Salary Range: $27.96 - $40.29 per hour
