The Stamatatos Lab, within the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division, is developing immunization approaches to activate specific B cell clonal lineages that produce protective antibodies against viruses, such as HIV and SARS-related viruses. We employ a wide range of experimental approaches and technologies and transgenic animals. The lab is recruiting a Research Technician to join our vaccine production and characterization projects.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Research Technician II

    Mammalian protein expression, purification and analytical characterization
  • Perform immunochemical assays, such as ELISA, Biolayer Interferometry (BLI), and Western Blotting
  • Perform diverse Molecular assays
  • Cell culturing
  • Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Work closely with our cGMP manufacturing partners for the upscaling of the optimized expression and purification protocols
  • Provide highly detailed data reports
  • Participate in the daily operation of the laboratory
  • Other duties as assigned.

Research Technician III

Performs the duties of the Research Technician II plus:

  • May lead or supervise other laboratory personnel and be responsible for the daily operation of the laboratory.
  • Collaborate with primary investigator and assist in designing experiments; examine proposals to determine projects and methodologies best suited to research objectives and the overall goals of the laboratory.
  • Summarize and write for publication or presentation the results of research projects, often as co-author or author. Edit and write reports of research.
  • Consult with the Principal Investigator and others in the scientific community on problems and related projects.
  • Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research; determine appropriate experimental controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Research Technician II

  • Intermediate level position requiring 2 years previous experience working in a laboratory and BA/BS.

  • Independent research experience outside of laboratory course work is usually necessary.

  • Expertise in mammalian protein expression and purification is required.
  • Motivation, adaptability, and ability to be a strong team player are essential.
  • The candidate must be someone with great attention to details, well-organized, self-motivated, and able to efficiently manage time and experiments.

Research Technician III

  • Master's degree in a related scientific field preferred.
  • Senior-level position requiring extensive experience in a laboratory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree with preference for protein chemistry, biochemistry, biology, immunology or similar areas of focus.
  • Knowledge of molecular cellular and immunological assays is preferred.

Rersearch Technician II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $25.71 to $36.60 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Rersearch Technician III: The hourly pay range for this position is from $32.57 to $47.71 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
