Development Director
Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County seeks an experienced and dynamic individual to serve in a critical new role as Director of Development. This position requires a passion for our mission of building and repairing affordable housing. Reporting to the Chief Executive Director, the Development Director will lead fundraising activities to support the organization's strategic plan and fundraising goals to grow revenue significantly.

The Development Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all the organization's fundraising initiatives including the annual fund, major gifts program, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. To be successful, the Development Director must be a confident, collaborative, hands-on, and results-oriented leader who can articulate clear and compelling cases for support that ensures the growth and vitality of Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County. The successful candidate will enjoy meeting face-to-face with donors to share this exciting work and to solicit, close and steward their financial support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and execute a comprehensive $1M+ annual fundraising plan to achieve annual fundraising goals to support the organization's strategic plan to ensure steady growth and sustainability of the organization over the next 3-5 years.
  • Cultivate new sources of revenue by creatively and strategically expanding the existing donor base with an increased focus on major and planned giving.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors for Habitat which includes prospect
  • identification, pipeline development, and board and volunteer engagement in building major gifts relationships.
  • Set and meet major gifts metrics, including face-to-face meetings and donor solicitation. Track and report on these metrics monthly.
  • Strategically deploy the CEO and board members in major gifts efforts. Lead donor stewardship efforts for major donors that strengthen relationships.
  • Oversee the grants program, secure funding that supports the organization's strategic plan, including research, relationship building, proposal writing, tracking, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a donor database and use data analysis to inform fundraising strategies and decision-making.
  • Manage and oversee appropriate systems for timely execution of donor acknowledgments and fulfillment of donor benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to fundraising and development activities.
  • Stay current on best practices and trends in nonprofit fundraising and development and implement new ideas and strategies as appropriate.

Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of fundraising experience, with a proven track record of success in securing five figure gifts and building donor relationships.
  • Demonstrate servant leadership, embody the Habitat for Humanity mission, and exemplify a collaborative, decisive, motivating, and engaging communication style.
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively and constructively with colleagues and staff across programs and departments as well as throughout the organization.
  • Excellent administrative skills, which may include contract administration and compliance, program development and evaluation.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with MS Office 365 and database software (Little Green Light) relevant to the position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Professional and comfortable with a variety of people and audiences, which may include the media.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) Certification preferred but not required.
  • Prior nonprofit experience
  • Compensation & Benefits:
  • The salary for this position is $75,000-$90,000 annually dependent on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits package includes generous vacation/sick leave, 100% paid employee medical/dental/vision insurance, short/long term disability, life insurance, retirement account with 3% matching. Flexible work schedule/hybrid scheduling is available, however must reside in Kitsap, Pierce or Mason County Washington State.
