GENERAL DUTIES:

  1. Be responsible for the spiritual welfare of the summer camp maintenance staff.
  2. Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
  3. Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
  4. Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
  5. Prepare and deliver the Maintenance Crew Chief camp brief at the end of the summer.
  6. Assist with evening cabin supervision
  7. Any other duties as assigned by the Food Service Administrator or Assistant Camp Administrator.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Safety and Supervision

  1. Enforce camp policies and procedures
  2. Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times.
  3. Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.
  4. Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.

Weekly Responsibilities

  1. Organize daily devotions for summer camp maintenance staff.
  2. Prepare written job assignments and schedules for summer camp maintenance staff.
  3. Supervise and direct the Maintenance Crew
  4. Prepare/participate in the planning of daily devotions for the Maintenance Crew
  5. Clean and prepare all areas for use by campers and guests:
  6. Dust windows, doorways, and know down all cobwebs
  7. Sweep floors & porches
  8. Scrub bathroom sinks, showers, toilets, and clean mirrors
  9. Mop and disinfect bathroom shower & floor
  10. Re-stock all paper products
  11. Empty all trash & replace can liner, and take to main dumpster
  12. Check & replace burnt light bulbs
  13. Prior to the start of each camp session, close and lock all buildings and rooms not planned for program use
  14. Periodically check to make sure that buildings and rooms not in use remain locked
  15. Daily trash runs and litter patrol
  16. Build campfires & prepare sleep out locations as needed
  17. Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of all camp vehicles, including washing and waxing
  18. After each use, clean & service all hand equipment including:
  19. Weed Whackers - check spark plug and refill with 2 cycle gas
  20. Lawn Mowers - clean off clipping and refill with unleaded gas
  21. Blowers - clean and refuel with 2 cycle gas
  22. Keep the Maintenance Building neat & orderly at all times and keep all tools in their proper location
  23. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry rooms
  24. Assist with general maintenance projects as directed by the Operations Manager
  25. Chop firewood, or supervise summer camp maintenance staff chopping firewood, for evening programs
  26. Sweep and clean amphitheater in preparation for evening programs.
  27. Prepare fire for evening Timberlake programs
  28. Set up sound systems for special events under director of the Media Specialist.
  29. Supervise TLC setup and take down for "Big Chapel"
  30. Supervise end of week Timberlake carnival setup and take down
  31. Work on special projects as assigned.
  32. Be a liaison between the summer camp maintenance crew and the year round staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  2. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead.
  3. Ability to operate telephone.
  4. Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  6. Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
  7. Ability to understand written information.
