The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch)/ University of Washington (UW) is recruiting an Infectious Disease fellow who is seeking clinical and research training focused on infections in hematopoietic cell and/or solid organ transplant as well as other immunosuppressed individuals. The mission of our NIAID T32 Infectious Disease in the Immunocompromised Host Training Grant (6T32AI118690) and training program is to recruit and train outstanding physician-scientists on clinical, translational, and basic research on infectious diseases in immunocompromised patients, using state-of-the-art methods and analytical techniques.

Applicants who already completed an ACGME Infectious Disease fellowship will have the opportunity to attend on our Infectious Disease Consult Service.

Eligibility

The candidate must be a citizen of the United States, or a non-citizen national, or must have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence and possess an Alien Registration Receipt Card (1-151 or 1-551) or some other verification of legal admission as a permanent resident.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will participate in supervised clinical training on infections in immunocompromised hosts and engage in clinical, translational, or basic science research with one of our internationally recognized T32 mentors. Based on interests, there are opportunities to participate in the Fred Hutch outpatient infectious disease or UW solid organ transplant infectious disease clinic as well as the immunocompromised host infectious disease inpatient ID consult services. Opportunities exist for grant writing, writing of and contributing to manuscripts as lead or co-author and presenting research at scientific meetings. The individual may also have opportunities to mentor undergraduate/ medical students and other research staff in an environment that values diversity. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center provides a challenging academic and supportive multi-disciplinary research environment and the fellow will be able to take full advantage of training, education, and mentorship opportunities offered through the Center.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with a MD, MD/PhD, MD/MPH or equivalent degree who have completed an accredited ACGME Infectious Diseases training program. Candidates should be highly motivated and capable of working independently in a team environment with strong writing, English communication, and problem-solving skills. Candidates with prior research training and a publication record and the aspiration to pursue a career in immunocompromised host infectious disease are preferred. Extensive efforts are made to identity and attempt to recruit underrepresented minority trainees.

If involved in providing direct patient care in a consult service or clinic as part of our T32, a medical staff appointment with the University of Washington and a Washington State Medical License will be required.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $76,032 to $105,252 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
